The Coves Major Infrastructure is Complete!

As we enter 2009, The Coves is moving forward on several fronts.  All major road and utility construction, boat storage, and major landscaping is complete, and the vision of building a unique community that is in harmony with its natural surroundings has come alive.  A leisurely drive or walk through the community gives you a sense of how The Coves designers and builders have “listened to the land” while building a community that is like no other on Smith Mountain Lake.

The Coves Roads are Complete

Road Paving Completed

After drying out from a very wet spring, paving has been completed at The Coves!  It is interesting to observe how the paved roads roll with the natural contours of the land.  The street scape has a very Blue Ridge Parkway like feel to it.  This is a tribute to the design of the community and the construction of the road system.

Part of the vision behind The Coves is to work with the land as you are designing and building.  We think our new road system has achieved that goal.

New Entrance Sign Complete

You’ll know you’ve arrived at our lakefront community when you see the new sign at our entrance!  Designed by Charlottesville, Va. firms Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects and Gropen, Inc., the entrance is illuminated by low-emission LED bulbs to keep light emissions to a minimum.  The natural-colored aluminum sign is a perfect fit to match the natural stone wall, split rail fence and dry stacked wood (cut on the property) that make up the entrance.

It’s a perfect welcome to The Coves at Smith Mountain Lake, a community that blends the best of fine amenities with a commitment to environmental stewardship.
